Create your own home spa session with our healthy natural products

You can create your own home spa session with a few of our handmade healthy natural products.  I am a big believer in taking some time for enjoying a home spa session to relax and unwind from the stresses of life.  If you don’t have the time or resources to go to a spa, you can learn to create your own home spa session.  It’s easy, fun and more importantly, it’s healthy for your mind and body. Once you enjoy your first spa day, you might feel more inclined to schedule an ongoing spa session in your life.

A few prep steps for enjoying your home spa session

A few prep steps for enjoying your spa session would include picking a calm environment in your home and obtaining a few pampering necessities for the spa session.   A few items I use during a spa session includes using a Pure Soaps And Candles natural wood wick candle made with plant-based essential oils.  These candles offer an aromatic comfort that calms your mind and soothes your senses. They’re ideal to use for creating a home environment with your spa session.  They also have a wood wick which provides a crackling sound and helps to refocus during my meditation stage of the spa session.  You will learn about the meditation stage later in this blog.

Prep for the spa session with our natural products

To prep for the body and face care portion of the spa session, I obtain a few natural body care products from PureSoapsAndCandles.com. Pick out your favorite bath soak, natural shea butter lotion, and goat milk foaming soap for each of the areas of body care.   We don’t currently make face-masks for the e-store but below is an easy recipe to make for yourself.  Lastly prep for your nutritional recovery.  After every spa session it’s important to fuel and hydrate your body.  Obtain some of your favorite snacks and drink to end the spa session.

Set up your comfortable spa session room space

I set up my comfortable space in a room of the home that gives me joy.   It is recommended to pick a quiet room to avoid distractions such as pets, phones, kids, etc. Lower the blinds to create an ambient atmosphere.  Light your favorite wood wick lotion candle to omit a relaxing aroma to create a state of calm and relaxation.  Spa scented candles such as lavender or eucalyptus tea tree are good choices. In my experience, these aromas put me in a very calm state. Select some music like soft jazz from Natalie Cole. You choose relaxing music that works to release your current thoughts. Set a blanket on the floor with a few comfy pillows for the relaxing stage of your session.

Prep the night before the spa session

Fresh cucumber slices for your spa day

As you prep the night before the spa session pick out some of your favorite snack foods, a fresh cucumber, and a favorite recovery beverage.  If you are ambitious and really want a special treat create a charcuterie board.  Simple and Savory offers some great ideas on mixing different foods on your charcuterie board. Add your favorite foods to your board.  I enjoy fresh red pepper, Mediterranean hummus, sundried tomatoes, red grapes, and almonds as a snack plate.  Cover and store your finished snack board in the refrigerator so it’s fresh for your post spa session.

The fresh cucumber is totally optional but makes your spa session just that much more special and fun.  Cut up a fresh cucumber into round slices and put those in the refrigerator so they are chilled for the facial the next day.   You will also make your face mask the day before.  Choose from your favorite homemade facial mud mask recipes that are easy to make at home.  This allows the mask to set overnight from refrigeration so it’s nice and cold before use.  (See below for a natural mud mask facial recipe)

Home spa hot bath session with a natural bath balm

My home spa session begins with a hot bath session. Some bath salts will help with releasing muscle tension and stress in my body.  An additional benefit is smooth and soft skin from a bath soak. The aroma plays a major role in rebalancing my limbic system to homeostasis.

hot bath with a bath balm

This aids in obtaining a deeper state of pleasure.  Have you ever felt overwhelmed by too many stimuli as if you are sensory overloaded?  A warm bath along with a pleasurable aromatic essential oil such as lavender from a natural bath balm can aid the limbic system’s thalamus in regulating motor function, movement, and sensory perception.  Any of the bath balms with lavender will be a great choice.  Pure Soaps And Candles offers all-natural bath balms that don’t make your bathtub slippery or hold any residual remnants from the balm.  Choose from the Lavender/Lemongrass or Lavender.   If you need additional muscle relief the Relax is a great option with its addition of magnesium, eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils.  Both eucalyptus and peppermint offer constituents that help to soothe sore muscles.

An extra fun option for your spa session is to add a cool bath cloth over your eyes for the sensory reset with a few drops of lemongrass essential oil, eucalyptus, or roman chamomile and your emotional system will love you for it!

The home spa face mask session

Taking a long, hot bath will also help to open your facial pores to prep for your next step in your home spa session, the face mask session.  Use your pre-prepped face mask and gently apply the mask in an upward motion with small swirls as you cover your entire face and neck.  Once your face is fully covered, enter into your comfortable room space.  Relax your head on the pillow and apply the cucumber circles to your eyes.

Enjoy this time with some deep breathing exercises to enhance the blood flow and oxygen intake throughout the body.  Focus only on this quiet state.  Every time your mind starts to wander toward other thoughts, focus on the gentle crackle sound from your wood wick lotion candle. This will bring you back to the current moment.  Use your blanket if you get a chill and focus on keeping your body as comfortable as possible while continuing deep breathing and focus on relaxing at the moment.  Make it a goal to enjoy this time for at least 20 minutes or more.   Allow yourself to drift to sleep if that is what your body needs.  This is your spa session so there are no rules.  You make this spa session your own special time of relaxation and recovery.

Once you are finished, enjoy a warm shower and remove your facial mask using our foaming goat milk soap or goat milk bar soap.  Pure Soaps and Candles offers several different natural aromas and a favorite for spa sessions is Early Morning Haze.  A Eucalyptus/Teatree blend that is both calming and cleansing.  Eucalyptus has mental clarity properties to enhance the feeling of regeneration after a spa session.

The final pamper step to complete your home spa session

The final pamper step to complete your spa session includes a good application of our soft lotion bar to invigorate the body.  A great choice is our handmade 100% shea butter soft lotion bar in Wild Honeysuckle.  It completes the spa day while the lingering aroma helps to bring your mind back to the relaxing session even if the rest of the day becomes stressful.

Dress in a comfy bathrobe and sit down to a glass of lemon water or cup of hot tea and enjoy your pre-made snack board.  It’s also important to hydrate with a couple of glasses of water.  If you have time, curl up with your favorite book or take a nap.  You have now experienced your own spa session in the comfort of your home.  You should feel relaxed, refueled, and emotionally regenerated.
